Two charged over woodland body

Two men have been charged with the murder of a man whose body was discovered in woodland.

Peter Alan Taylor, aged 43, of Dedworth in Berkshire, and Nigel William Ogier, 27, of Englefield Green in Egham, Surrey, appeared before Reading magistrates on Saturday and were remanded in custody.

They are charged with the murder of 37-year-old Patrick Welch, whose body was discovered in woodland near to Ascot railway station in Berkshire on Tuesday, 20 May.

Both men must appear again before Bracknell Magistrates' Court on 4 June.

Mr Welch, who was unemployed and from Dedworth, had been reported missing more than two months previously. His body was found by a dog walker.

Two other men had been arrested in connection with the death but have since been released without charge.

A 22-year-old man arrested on Tuesday was released without charge on Thursday, Thames Valley Police said.

And a 38-year-old man, arrested on Thursday, was released without charge on Friday.
