Farmers' challenge to change
Farmland
Sir Don Curry has recommended ways to change farming practises
Seven farms in Cornwall are taking part in a project to help the industry become more efficient.

The Grassland Challenge is aimed at encouraging farmers to make their businesses more sustainable and increase profits.

The project follows the report on British agriculture by Sir Don Curry after the BSE scare.

He recommended ways to help farmers adapt to the current market place and change working practises.

The Grassland Challenge is being run by the Cornish Grassland Society and the Duchy College and is costing about £1.6m.

Initially, seven "focus farms" will take part in the scheme. But it is hoped it will eventually encompass every farm in the county.
