The Flower Festival includes a wide variety of events
People in Guernsey have been enjoying the floral delights around the island at the start of Floral Guernsey Festival Week.

The programme includes the widest possible selection of floral events.

A Country Flower Festival at the Forest Church kick-started the event on Saturday.

Organiser Evan Ozanne said there was something for everyone who had an interest in horticulture.

Musical asides

On Saturday afternoon, "Music Amidst the Flowers" was the theme for gardening enthusiasts who wished to browse the splendours at Castle Carey.

Music was provided by Jersey-based Premier Brass and Le Quennevais Steel Band.

A selection of light opera and songs were also put on by local singer Jo Paine.

On Sunday, there was a guided tour of the Victorian gardens, a guided walk of the Orchid Field and a walk along the west coast which took in plant life of the seashore.
