Wakefield's longest serving Member of Parliament is to receive the Freedom of the City on Wednesday.
The Right Honourable Walter Harrison was MP for Wakefield for more than 20 years as well as working as the government's Deputy Chief Whip and Treasurer.
The ceremony will take place in County Hall at 1400 BST, formally moved by council leader Peter Box.
Wakefield's current MP David Hinchliffe, who took the seat in 1987, will be making a tribute.

Mr Harrison, 82, of Sandal, was born in Dewsbury.
Prior to becoming a Labour MP in 1964, he served with the Royal Air Force in World War II and was an engineer.
As an MP, Mr Harrison ensured the County Hall stayed in public ownership after the abolition of the West Yorkshire Metropolitan County Council.
Mr Harrison said: "I am delighted and honoured to be given the Freedom of the City which I love so much.
"It is fitting the ceremony is taking place in County Hall, a magnificent building which belongs to the people of Wakefield."
Councillor Box added: "Walter has dedicated most of his life to Wakefield and continues to work tirelessly for freedom and justice against discrimination of any kind."
