Rapist jailed for 'vile' attack
Stuart Morgan
Morgan threatened to blind his victim during the attack
A rapist caught by DNA taken after his arrest for a minor offence has been jailed for eight years.

Stuart Morgan, 30, tortured his student victim during the 40-minute attack near Wolverhampton's Molineux Stadium in February 2000.

Police are still searching for a second man who took part in the assault, which left the 21-year-old woman with scratches all over her body, multiple brusing and bite marks.

Wolverhampton Crown Court heard that at one point during the attack in Molineux Alley, near Dunkley Street, Whitmore Reans, Morgan threatened to blind his victim.

It took several days and a number of interviews before she was able to give a full statement to detectives.

CCTV footage taken just before the attack
CCTV footage showed two men following a woman
Morgan, of Park Road East, West Park, who has a previous conviction for violence, pleaded guilty to rape and indecent assault on Tuesday.

Defending counsel, Mr Darron Whitehead, said his client had taken a cocktail of drink and drugs.

The judge told Morgan: "On any view this was vile behaviour and at the end of it you just walked away leaving your victim devastated by what had happened and barely able to seek help.

He added that the attack had been "very determined and prolonged" and that the sentence should serve as a warning to others and a punishment to Morgan.

Morgan was also ordered to remain on licence for three further years after his release.

Police are still searching for his accomplice.
