Boy, 7, injured in hit-and-run
Police are hunting a driver after a seven-year-old boy was seriously injured in a hit-and-run incident.

The driver is believed to have had an argument with several children shortly after 1900 BST on Thursday, when he found them hanging around his car.

He drove off, injuring the boy's head and shoulder.

Police are now appealing for anyone who saw the large green saloon or hatchback on Bournemouth's Townsend Estate to contact them.

The boy, who is from the area, was taken to Poole hospital, where his injuries are not said to be life-threatening.

Police Constable Paul Carter of Kinson police said: "The boy received serious injuries in this incident and it's important that I find the driver, and any other witnesses who saw how the injuries were caused.

"I believe there was an incident between the male driver of the car, who was white, and a group of youngsters in Watton Close shortly before the boy was injured.

"I'm appealing to the car driver and anyone else who saw the incident - or who knows anything about what happened in Watton Close - to please contact me urgently," added Pc Carter.
