Man jailed for rape
Preston Crown Court
Patel denied raping and assaulting the woman
A 59-year-old man has been jailed for five years for the rape and assault of a woman he met at a temple in Lancashire.

Parbhaibah Patel attacked his victim after meeting her at the city's Swaminarayan temple, Preston Crown court heard.

Patel, of Larkhill Street, Preston, had helped the woman to translate documents, before attacking her in her home.

Patel denied the charges, claiming the woman consented to sex.

The court heard that Patel pushed the woman against a door when she tried to raise the alarm over the attack. She suffered a broken tooth.

Judge David Boulton told Patel: "You took advantage of a vulnerable and isolated woman who suffered as a result of your attack on her."
