An inquiry is under way on the Isle of Man after the death of motorcycle race ace David Jefferies.
Jefferies, 30, of Baildon, West Yorkshire died instantly when his racing machine left the road at high speed and hit a telegraph pole.
Now experts from the Auto cycle Union, the governing body of motorcycle sport in Britain have launched "an immediate inquiry into the details of the incident."
There are fears that oil on the circuit may have caused the 160mph crash which claimed Jefferies' life as rode the 1000cc Suzuki bike.
A second motorcyclist, injured when his bike became tangled in the telegraph wires brought down by the initial crash, suffered serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
Race ace Jefferies, who scooped three titles at last year's TT event, was the holder of the Wednesday overnight lap record on the Manx course and favoured to win again.
But he crashed at Crosby on the second lap of Thursday afternoon's session suffering the fatal injuries.
Spokesman for the racing team TAS Suzuki Philip Neil said: "The death of David has left the whole team shocked and devastated."
