Woman dies in hit-and-run
A woman has died after she was hit by a car which failed to stop.

The 52-year-old, who has not been named, suffered multiple injuries after she was hit by a silver Volkswagon Golf in Heath Town, Wolverhampton around 2000 GMT on Friday night.

A police spokeswoman said a 30-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the incident in Wolverhampton Road and was helping officers with their inquiries.

She added: "The local woman had just got off a bus and was attempting to cross the dual carriageway when the collision took place."

The Golf GTI, with the registration plate V294ENP, was found abandoned in Grimstone Street, Heath Town.

Police believe there may have been three people in the car at the time of the collision.

They are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw the Golf being abandoned to contact the Wednesfield Road policing unit.
