Fire HQ sell-off plan shelved
A plan to sell-off the headquarters of Derbyshire's fire service has been shelved.

Derbyshire Fire Authority had proposed to sell the four-and-a-half acre site in Burton Road, Derby, to raise money for two new fire stations.

But reports into the feasibility of selling it revealed there were stringent planning controls on the area.

Because of that the value of the land was reduced so much that it is not worth selling.

It was hoped the money from the sale along with a bid for private finance could be used to build replacement stations in Chesterfield and Buxton.

The money would also have been used to build a new headquarters for staff currently based at Burton Road.

The fire authority said it has not ruled out selling the land in the future.
