Restaurant manager 'breached safety'
A company executive has been found guilty of health and safety breaches after a teenage worker was electrocuted at a fast-food restaurant.

Mark Thorne, 17, from Lincoln was electrocuted in August 1998 as he moved a plate warmer while mopping up at the city's Fatty Arbuckle's restaurant.

Charles Helmrich, from Elmsfield Avenue in York, was responsible for safety at Fatty Arbuckles restaurants at the time.

He had denied breaching his duty under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 on dates between March 1997 and January 1999.

But he was found guilty at Lincoln Magistrates' Court on Friday of failing to ensure the reasonable health and safety of others.

Helmrich was fined £3,000 and ordered to pay £3,000 in costs.

The 49-year-old was not charged in connection with Mark's death.
