Fleeing from Basra
We reported on events in Basra where reports said Iraqi civilians trying to flee the town were fired on by Saddam Hussein loyalists. British troops intervened to try to help them, but there are limits to what they can do from outside the city.

Rumsfeld criticised
We examined the growing criticism of US Defence Secretary, Donald Rumsfeld. Were his critics right, that the progress of the conflict so far showed that he made a huge mistake in refusing to employ the overwhelming force favoured by his generals?

Humanitarian aid
The first humanitarian aid ship arrived in the Iraqi port of Umm Qasr. We reported on how difficult it will be to get the supplies to the people who need them most.

Northern Iraq
And Robin Denselow in Kurdish Northern Iraq visited an area that was under Iraqi control and now left empty by their retreat to new lines of defence in front of the strategic town of Kirkuk.
