Sentence adjourned in machete killing
Costcutter store, Birchfield Road, Aston
Mrs Kaur was attacked on her store
A judge has adjourned sentencing a man who admitted killing a woman shopkeeper with a machete.

Keith Noel McDonald, of Hartington Road, Lozells, Birmingham, pleaded guilty in February to the manslaughter of Balbir Kaur.

Mrs Kaur, 52, from Perry Barr, Birmingham, suffered head wounds at her store in Birchfield Road, Aston, last September.

She was pronounced dead by doctors at the city's Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Sitting at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday, Mr Justice Hughes adjourned the case after being told attempts were being made to find McDonald a place at a psychiatric unit.

The 25-year-old, who is currently being held at HMP Woodhill in Milton Keynes, was remanded in custody until 25 April.
