Abduction attempt: police hunt man
A police officer talks into her radio
Police have appealed for witnesses
Police are hunting a man who tried to grab a four-year-old girl from a car in Bristol city centre.

The girl's father had left her in the car with his three other children, all aged under 10, while he looked after his 13-year-old niece and her friend as they queued to get into a disco.

As he waited for them to get safely into the Colston Hall at about 1930 GMT on Saturday 22 March he became aware of a man walking in the middle of Colston Street.

The man approached the back of his blue Rover Montego car and stared in through the window.

'Extremely distressed'

He then walked around to the nearside passenger door, opened it and took the young girl's arm as if he was trying to pull her out of the car.

When the girl's father ran to the car to challenge the man, he made off down Colston Street, leaving all four children extremely distressed.

The man is described as white, 5ft 5ins tall, bald, of stocky build and aged about 35.

He was wearing a red round neck T-shirt, blue denim jeans and had a silver chain around his neck.

Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone who recognises the man's description to contact them.
