Sex attacker jailed for life
Nicholas Wright
Wright was a mortgage advisor and cricket team captain
A 20-year-old man has been given three life sentences for a series of attempted rapes in West Yorkshire.

Nicholas Wright, of Scott Lane, Keighley, admitted attacking young women in Shipley, Bingley and Baildon.

The attacks happened as Wright drove around the streets late at night last April, July, and August.

Leeds Crown Court heard how Wright would drag his victims into secluded areas and alleys and punch them in the face.

Their terrified screams either discouraged Wright or alerted pedestrians and the women were able to escape.

He was caught after DNA screening of men in the area created a match.

Unsolved crimes

Mr Justice Holland, sentencing, told Wright he was a high risk to young women.

He said: "On each occasion you drove around in your car until you saw what you wanted and what you wanted was a young, respectable woman, walking home alone late at night.

"One of the outstanding characteristics of the three attacks was the escalating level of violence involved."

He said Wright must serve at least five years before he could be considered for parole.

Detectives say they want to speak to him about seven other unsolved attacks on women which happened in the area last year.
