Police search for victim's clothes
Michael Sheridan
Michael Sheridan had lived in Holyhead for a year
Detectives investigating the murder of a 41-year-old man in Holyhead have appealed for help to find clothes, shoes and a green suitcase missing from his home.

The body of Michael Sheridan was found at his flat in Stanley Crescent on Saturday.

He had died of a single stab wound.

Apart from the clothes he wore when he died there was no other clothing or footwear in the flat.

The last confirmed sighting of Mr Sheridan was on the morning of 5 February when he went to cash his benefits cheque.

He usually visited pubs around Holyhead afterwards, but detectives say they have no confirmed sightings of him later on that day.

On the Wednesday morning, Mr Sheridan was wearing blue denim jeans, a white or light grey shirt, a blue cotton jacket and black trainers.

Detective Superintendent Ross Duffield, who is leading a team of 30 officers seeking the killer, said: "There are still many gaps in the inquiry.

"We are appealing for any witnesses who saw Mr Sheridan on 5 February or a later date to contact us immediately."

Det Supt Duffield added they wanted to speak to anyone who may have been with Mr Sheridan in the pubs as part of their inquiry into his lifestyle.

He confirmed he may have lain dead at his home for six weeks.

Police were called to the house last Saturday, 22 March - his benefits cheque was cashed on 5 February.

His body was found by his landlady, who was concerned she had not seen him for several weeks.

Forensic teams have been combing Mr Sheridan's flat, along with the derelict house next door and the upstairs apartment.

Mr Sheridan was unemployed and had lived in Holyhead for the past 12 months.

Before that he had lived in various parts of the UK and he has family in Manchester.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact either Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or North Wales Police's dedicated line on 0845 607 1002.
