We want your questions to put to our expert panel
The war in the Gulf is now into its second week with many of the individual battles being fought out live on our television screens.

But what about the bigger picture? With so much information coming at us, it is extremely difficult to take a step back and get an objective view of the war, the politics and diplomacy.

So we gave you the chance to put a question to Middle East expert George Joffe and former Assistant Chief of the Defence Staff Sir Timothy Garden.

    Sir Tim Garden: Former Assistant Chief of Defence Staff
    Has been a regular contributor to Breakfast since the war began. He was former Assistant Chief of the Defence Staff making him the one of the UK's most senior military officers.

    He reached the rank of Air Marshal in the Royal Air Force. A former Puma and Chinook helicopter pilot, he has an excellent understanding of what service personnel will be going through during the conflict.

    Having retired from the Royal Air Force in 1996, he took on the role of director of the Royal Institute of International Affairs.

    George Joffe: Middle East analyst

    Throughout the war, George Joffe has also been a regular contributor to Breakfast.

    He is renowned for his knowledge of the Middle East and Islamic affairs and is a research associate at the Centre for International Studies at Cambridge.

    He also worked with Sir Tim at the RIIA and is a visiting scholar at the University of Melbourne.

    George Joffe was last in Iraq in 2000 where he gave a lecture and met the Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Aziz.
