£5m police cell block planned
Plans have been outlined to build a £5m police cell block on a Stoke-on-Trent business park.

A police spokesperson said the custody centre at Festival Park, Etruria Valley, will provide improved facilities for the families of people who are arrested.

The spokesperson added that the project would free up more officers for day-to-day policing.

Stoke-on-Trent Regeneration Limited, the company behind the bid, said the complex would fit in with nearby office buildings.

But Lorna Cartwright, from the nearby Little Treasures Day Nursery, said the plans are unlikely to be attractive to local businesses.

"I'm sure that they will have something to say about the application

"It will probably affect their business.

She added: "Parents might not want to bring their children here if they know something like that is being built on the festival park site."
