Police leads over Hannah's death
Hannah Foster
Police say a man's voice can be heard on Hannah's 999 call
Police hunting the killer of student Hannah Foster are following several leads after a Crimewatch reconstruction of her last movements.

The last known whereabouts of the 17-year-old from Southampton were shown on Crimewatch on Wednesday night, 12 days after she disappeared after a night out with a friend.

Hannah's body was discovered in undergrowth in West End, on the outskirts of Southampton on 16 March, two days after she went missing.

The programme prompted three different calls from people who said they had seen Hannah in the back of a hatchback car driven by a man.

Another caller said they had seen her walking home with a man following her.

There were other calls related to Southampton and Southsea in Portsmouth.

The latter was where her bag and mobile phone were found in a glass recycling centre.

Man's voice

She was last seen waving to a friend at 10.50pm near Highfield Rd, a short distance from her home

Police said the Hannah had made a 999 call 10 minutes later and said they could hear the voice of a man in the background.

The call is now being analysed to try and enhance the voice.

They also have a witness who said they saw a man placing a bag in a glass recycling centre in Portsmouth.

She was always very protective, that's the one thing that struck me
Hannah's father, Trevor Foster
Her parents Hilary and Trevor Foster have spoken of their grief over Hannah's murder.

Mrs Foster said: "It's just knowing how frightened she must have been at some stage and we can't get beyond that.

"Hannah was always a very happy person, one of those sort of children with a ready smile.

"She's just the sort of girl that you just always felt very proud of."

Mr Foster, 53, said: "She was always very protective, that's the one thing that struck me how protective she was to her younger sister.

"If ever I was telling Sarah off she'd always try and pacify me or take the blame."

On Tuesday, police said that advice from forensic psychologists has informed them the probable motive for the killing was sexual.

They also said they had eliminated two men from the investigation who were seen parked in a dark-coloured saloon car close to where Hannah was last seen.

But they are still keen to trace a man, or men, of Asian appearance who spoke to Hannah close to her home address in Grosvenor Road on two separate occasions at the end of January and end of February.
