Guilty plea over teacher's death crash

Helen Clark started teaching a year ago
A man from Southcote has pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving, following a crash in which a young teacher died.

Helen Clark, a 23-year-old teacher at Birch Copse School, Tilehurst, died after the collision on New Lane Hill last month.

Anthony Watts, 23, of Hatford Road, appeared at Reading Crown Court on Thursday.

He also pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking, disqualified driving, driving with no insurance, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and breach of bail.

He has now been remanded in custody, while pre-sentencing reports are carried out.

He will appear at Reading Crown Court for sentencing on 25 April.
