Arrests after major cannabis seizure

The cannabis was found in the car
Police in Gloucester have seized 25 kilos of cannabis worth £80,000 and arrested two people.

The drugs were found in a car that failed to stop for police and was later abandoned.

A 24-year-old woman and 28-year-old man, both from Gloucester, are being questioned in connection with the incident.

The car - a Vauxhall Astra - was hailed by police in Quedgeley, at around 2100 GMT on Wednesday, and was later found in Westland Road, Hardwicke.

Acting Detective Inspector Rupe Attwood said: "Although this was an unexpected seizure, it is a considerable amount of drugs to be off the streets and is testimony to the vigilance of the officers who tried to stop the car.

"It is one of the larger seizures of cannabis we have made and we are pleased it will not now be making its way out through the supply chain."
