New use for abandoned control tower
Shropshire County Council
Councillors want a closer inspection of the tower
Councillors are to visit a disused World War II control tower in north Shropshire to help them decide whether or not it should be transformed into a B&B.

Members have already failed to reach any decision on the proposed scheme at Ollerton, near Hinstock, and have now voted for a site visit instead.

The former control tower in Ollerton Lane has not been used for years.

Now there is a plan to turn it into a house, using the ground floor as an office for an internet delivery business and the first and second floors as a bed and breakfast business.

Council officers had recommended the scheme should be rejected, saying it is a secluded spot outside the development boundary.

But on Wednesday, members voted for a closer inspection of the tower and will now visit the site in the coming weeks.
