Police in Peterborough are appealing for witnesses
A young mother has been killed and her baby slightly injured in a car crash in Peterborough.

Nicola Spiers, 28, from Farcet in Cambridgeshire, died in Peterborough District Hospital after the accident on Wednesday evening.

She was driving a Volkswagen Polo when it collided with a Ford Mondeo on the Frank Perkins Parkway at 1815 GMT.

Her one-year-old daughter was also taken to hospital, and was kept in overnight for observation.

The driver of the Ford - a 59-year-old man from Folksworth - was not injured.

Any witnesses should contact PC Paul Symonds at the Road Policing Unit on 01480 422 585.
