Terror: how worried should we be?
Troops at Heathrow, 12 February
Troops are patrolling Heathrow for the third day
Is the government over-reacting to the threat of terrorist attack in Britain - or do they know something that we don't?

That's the question we asked this morning, amid growing calls for the Home Secretary to make a statement to the House of Commons.

Troops are still on patrol at Heathrow airport and security has been stepped up at several other airports in Britain.

But the level of public scepticism remains high. Many of your e-mails to us have expressed the suspicion that we are witnessing a PR offensive, to change people's minds over war with Iraq

  • How worried should we be? We talked to terrorism expert Bill Durodie, of the Centre for Defence Studies.

  • Is this government spin? We asked the distinguished documentary-maker Michael Cockerill, whose latest programme about the government's PR machine was shown a few days ago.
