New calls about prostitute's murder
Nikola Higgins
The hunt continues for the killer of Nikola Higgins
Staffordshire Police say their renewed call for information about the murder of prostitute Nikola Higgins in Stoke-on-Trent has been a success.

Officers say they have received more than 20 calls since Wednesday's fresh appeal, which marked the second anniversary of Miss Higgins' death.

Three different callers named the same man as the killer.

Miss Higgins, originally from Coalville, Leicestershire, was found strangled and battered on a driveway near a church graveyard in Chatteley Road, Tunstall, Stoke.

'Pleasing response'

The investigation is now focusing on a blue Vauxhall Carlton which was spotted the night before the 23-year-old was found dead in Tunstall.

Detectives have released CCTV pictures of the car which were taken in Hanley town centre, about two miles from where Miss Higgins' body was found.

They believe the driver will be able to help them with their investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Carl Brookes, who is leading the inquiry, added: "We are very pleased with the response from the public.

"We are still receiving calls. We will now be following up information received but we would still urge anyone who has not yet come forward, who may have information to contact us."

A £10,000 reward has also been offered by Crimestoppers to help catch Miss Higgins' killer.
