Robbers armed with rock hunted
Police cars
The police have appealed for witnesses to the attack
Robbers attacked staff in a Bristol shop with a rock - leaving one man needing hospital treatment - before stealing jewellery and cash.

The thieves went into the shop in Stapleton Road at around 1415 GMT on Tuesday and used a piece of rock to assault its manager and other assistants.

The pair, who police believe had visited the store earlier in the day posing as customers, made off with cash and jewellery, running into Newton Street.

Police investigating the theft are appealing for information and witnesses.

Hospital treatment

The manager of the shop needed hospital treatment as a result of the incident but has now been discharged.

The men are thought to have visited the shop for the first time at 1100 GMT, and were seen again at 1245 GMT, when one of them was standing at a nearby bus stop and the other was in the driver's seat of a car.

Witnesses say the car was a light purple coloured Renault Megane which had darkened or tinted windows.

Both suspects were black men in their early 20s. The first was slim man, 5ft 6in or 5ft 7in tall, with short, shaved, hair.

He was wearing a parka-type jacket with the hood down, a dark coloured top underneath, and a necklace made up of brown and cream coloured beads.

Witnesses sought

He was also wearing Nike Air Max training shoes, which were grey with black piping, with a luminous yellow bubble on the heel.

The second suspect had short hair and was of broad build. He was wearing a dark blue hooded top.

Police would like to hear from anyone with information about this incident or the identities of the suspects.

They are also keen to trace the other people in the store at the time of the robbers' first visit, and a woman who has already given some information about the men.
