Man released in murder inquiry
Thomas Johnston was attacked on North Boundary Street
Mr Johnston was attacked on North Boundary Street
A 34-year-old man arrested in connection with the murder of Thomas Johnston in November last year has been released without charge.

Mr Johnston died a day after being assaulted at North Boundary Street in the Shankill area of Belfast.

The man was detained on Wednesday and police took away a number of items following the search of a house.

Mr Johnston, 24, was found with severe head injuries after the attack and died in the nearby Mater Hospital.

He was set upon by a man who pulled up beside him in a silver BMW car and started beating him with a heavy blunt object.

He then kicked Mr Johnston as he lay on the ground.

A woman with him was also hit across the face by the attacker.

The police said it was a brutal and unprovoked attack.
