Sons appeal for help in hunt for killer
Cassie Quin
Cassie Quin's murder has shocked police
The sons of the of a frail pensioner brutally murdered in her Essex home are appealing for help from the public.

The body of widow Cassie Quin, 82, who weighed just over six stone, was found in her Brentford home on Sunday by a regular carer.

A post mortem examination showed she died from multiple injuries to her face and head.

"Our mother lived in her home for nearly 45 years.

"She was well-known and she wouldn't have hurt a fly," said Stuart Quinn, who was accompanied by his brother Andrew.

The brothers said they could not begin to understand why anyone should want to hurt their mother.

Essex detectives are appealing for information about anyone who may have been seen acting suspiciously in the Westbury Drive neighbourhood from 0900 GMT on Saturday to the time her body was found at 1100 GMT on Sunday.

Police said there were no obvious signs of a break-in at Mrs Quin's house in the town centre cul-de-sac.

Detective Superintendent Kevin Macey said it was the worst case he had been involved in.

I have investigated many murders but was appalled by what I saw when I went in the house

Detective Superintendent Kevin Macey
"This was a ferocious attack on a frail and elderly lady.

"I have investigated many murders but was appalled by what I saw when I went in the house.

"I urgently need to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything."

A forensic team was at the house on Wednesday as other officers talked to friends and neighbours.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 01277 262220 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
