New recycling centre on the way
Landfill site
Only 12% of waste in England is recycled
A new recycling centre is to open in Ross-on-Wye.

The modern, split-level facility will replace the existing site on Station Approach.

Users will be able to recycle 11 different kinds of material there, including glass, cans and paper, as well as textiles, green garden waste and rubble.

The site, which is due to open in March, will have longer opening hours than before.

16 sites

Tony Lindsay, the Herefordshire Council officer for waste management, said the improved facilities were good news for the town.

¿We recognise we need to make it easier for people to recycle more by providing improved facilities for recycling, and this site will help do just that¿, he said.

Severn Waste Services operates 16 household waste sites in Herefordshire and Worcestershire on behalf of Herefordshire Council and Worcestershire County Council.

Sites similar to the new facility in Ross-on-Wye have already been provided in Bromyard, Hereford, Ledbury and Leominster.
