Man charged over girl's murder
Sarah Robson
Sarah Robson's body was found in a field
An 18-year-old man has been charged with murder after a 14-year-old girl's body was found in a field in Cramlington, Northumberland.

Thomas Davies of Deanside, Seghill, is due to appear before south-east Northumberland magistrates on Thursday morning.

Sarah Robson's fully-clothed body was found just a few hundred yards from her home in Cramlington, north of Newcastle, on Tuesday evening.

She was found after a search when she failed to return home on the day her parents celebrated their silver wedding anniversary, police said.

Police have not said how Sarah died, but confirmed she was fully clothed when she was found.

'Quiet and pleasant'

Derek Wise, the headteacher of Cramlington High School which Sarah attended, said: "Everyone at the school is deeply shocked.

"She was a quiet and pleasant student. Our thoughts are with the family."

Gareth Savage, 16, a lifelong friend of the family, said: "She was popular around the street, always said hello, and her family is very nice indeed.

"I have known her as long as I have known her brothers and have watched her grow up.

"She was a very nice person, harmless to everyone, and she didn't deserve anything like this.

"She will be very badly missed around here."
