Ambulance in road crash
Ambulance
The crew of the ambulance suffered shock
An ambulance attending an emergency call was involved in a road crash in Pevensey Bay, East Sussex, on Tuesday evening.

The accident happened at 2130 GMT on Eastbourne Road when the ambulance was in collision with a Toyota Carina.

A spokeswoman for Sussex Ambulance Service said the ambulance was travelling to Hastings to attend another road accident at the time of the crash and there were no patients on board.

The driver of the Toyota, a 60-year-old woman, was taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital with serious injuries.

The two ambulance crew members suffered shock but were unhurt.

Firefighters attended the scene to release the Toyota driver from her vehicle.

The road was closed for three hours while crash investigators examined the scene.

Police are asking any witnesses to the accident to contact them.
