Police pleased with murder appeal
Street on which postman Paul Savage was murdered
Detectives are continuing their investigation
Detectives in north Wales say they have had a "tremendous response" to their appeals for information over the brutal murder of Mold postman Paul Savage.

One of the senior officers leading the murder inquiry, Detective Chief Inspector Dave Loftus, said : "We have had a tremendous response to our appeal for information and we are currently ploughing through the information received."

The inquiry team are expected to reveal further details of progress in the investigation later in the week.

They believe that the answer to the brutal crime lies within the town of Mold itself.

"The focus of our investigation remains very much on Mold but we have still not yet established a motive for what happened."

Last week it was revealed that the 30-year-old postman had a drugs conviction from a London court following a case involving a £1m haul of cannabis.

Beaten

He moved to Mold from Sale in Manchester last summer, along with his wife and four-year-old daughter.

Mr Savage, who lived in Gwernaffield, was beaten over the head last Tuesday as he delivered the early morning mail to Clayton Road in Mold.

He was left lying in a pool of blood in the snow and he died from multiple fractures of the skull.

Two hooded young men running from the scene shortly after 0730 GMT and one theory is that Mr Savage had become involved in a disagreement.

A family liaison officer is working closely with Mr Savage's family, who have since been moved to a Cheshire address. Anyone with information can contact the incident room on 01352 707552 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
