Fifteen questioned after dawn drug raids
police
They are being held at stations across north Hampshire
Police in Basingstoke are continuing to question 11 men and four women arrested in a series of drug raids on Tuesday morning.

They are still in custody after extensions were obtained from superintendents of the four police stations they are being held at.

A total of 90 officers were involved in the simultaneous arrests in and around the town at 0630 GMT Tuesday.

The 15 people were arrested on suspicion of supplying class A drugs, namely heroin and cocaine.

They are being interviewed at several stations in north Hampshire, including Aldershot and Winchester.

'Not tolerated'

Police say the arrests follow a seven-month investigation involving officers from Basingstoke CID.

Detective Inspector Jerry Brierley said: "This has been a lengthy and often difficult investigation.

"By concentrating our resources in this area I hope this shows how seriously we consider drug crime and sends out a message that the supply of drugs will not be tolerated in Basingstoke."

He said that charges were likely to follow later on Wednesday.
