A murder investigation has begun into the death of a woman found in the hallway of her Essex home.

The body of Jean Dicker, 58, was found by her son when he arrived at their bungalow in Craigfield Avenue, Clacton, at 2315 GMT on Wednesday.

Police said she had severe head injuries.

A post-mortem was due to be carried out on Thursday.

He is not being treated as a suspect.
