In pictures: US factory blast
At least three people are killed and dozens more injured in a massive explosion
and fire at a pharmaceutical plant in the US state of North Carolina.
The blast tore the roof off the West Pharmaceuticals plant
A pall of black smoke spread across the town of Kinston
Fire ripped through the building, trapping many workers inside
The heat reduced the structure to twisted metal
Firefighters rescued many workers who had suffered burns
More than 100 people were working at the time of the blast; some did not survive
