Royal letter fails to sell
The letter was written before the couple separated
A letter from the Prince and Princess of Wales, revealing their unusual sense of humour, has failed to reach its reserve price at auction.
The typewritten letter, expected to sell for £1,500, went under the hammer on Wednesday at Dominic Winter Book Auctions in Swindon. It thanked a paramedic who treated Prince William after a golf accident in 1991. Dominic Winter said it was now trying to contact the letter's owner to arrange a private sale. Skilled care Shabir Ahmed, the recipient, was amongst the ambulance crew who treated eight-year-old William at the school in Wokingham, Berkshire, after he was hit on the head with a golf club. "We wanted to write and say how deeply grateful we are for all the skilled care and attention you gave him", the letter read. "We only hope that being involved with a royal patient has not seriously affected your health."
