Reward offered to catch OAP's killer
Vera Moore
There have been no leads on Mrs Moore's killer
The American nephew of a pensioner strangled to death in her home is offering a reward to catch his aunt's killer.

Alan Moore, 36, met 83-year-old Vera only a few times as he grew up in the US.

But he has put up a $1,000 dollar (£650) reward for information leading to the conviction of her murderer.

Police believe Mrs Moore may have been murdered in her semi-detached home in Hassocks Lane in Beeston, Nottingham, by a burglar who strangled her before snatching her black leather purse.

Body discovered

The pensioner was last seen as she went shopping in the Queens Road area of Beeston on 16 January.

Her daughter Jean discovered her body in the house the following morning.

Mr Moore, who lives in Florida, said his parents had called him to let him know what had happened.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that Mr Moore has put up a $1,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of Vera Moore's murderer."

Police patrols have been stepped up on the estate to reassure her neighbours.
