Football memorabilia up for auction
The ground will be demolished in the summer
A cash-strapped football club in the East Midlands is hoping to sell off part of its past to help ensure its future.
Derby County football club was based at the city's Baseball Ground when it won promotion to the Premiership. The team moved to Pride Park seven years ago, and is now trying to sell its old turnstiles and seats in an internet auction to raise money. Although the ground still hosts youth academy games, the 110-year-old Baseball Ground is due for demolition by the end of the summer. Manager's chair "You could put a turnstile at the front door or at the back for a bird table," said auctioneer Andy Ellis. Mr Ellis says the seats from the old Baseball Ground are selling for £20 each. Even the furniture from the manager's office is up for sale. The team has already sold some Anglo-Italian Cup Final programmes, old share certificates, 1972 championship celebration dinner menus and unused match tickets for various games on internet auction sites. The last league game at the ground was against Arsenal in May 1997.
