Teenagers accuse same man of rape
Old Bailey
Humphery Davis has denied all five rapes
Two teenagers walked into separate police stations on the same day and reported they had been raped by the same man, an Old Bailey jury has heard.

The prosecution said the girls did not know each other, or that the man had allegedly raped three other teenagers during two months in 2001.

Humphery Davis, 29, from Enfield, north London, has denied all five rapes.

Emma Broadbent, prosecuting, told the jury that four girls were raped either in the defendant's home or in his car.

'Liked and trusted'

She told the jury: "He befriended the two who did not know each other on the street and lured them into his bedroom where he had forceful sexual intercourse.

"He was liked and trusted by all the women, but then his friendly manner would change."

Sometimes afterwards he would apologise or blame the girls, alleged Miss Broadbent.

"Matters came to light when, on 21 March, when two women who did not know each other independently went to separate police stations and reported they had been raped by the defendant."

Five of them can hardly be making a mistake or conspiring together to tell a lie

Prosecutor Emma Broadbent

The court was told that they were 15 and 19 years old and had allegedly been attacked within six days of each other.

Another 15-year-old alleged three weeks later that she had been raped by Mr Davis.

Miss Broadbent said: "Then a 17-year-old came forward and on May 7 a 15-year-old said she had been raped the previous January.

"He said each woman had sexual intercourse by consent - that is the issue.

"Five of them can hardly be making a mistake or conspiring together to tell a lie."

Davis has a wife and family in Jamaica, and a lover and baby in New York, the jury was told.
