Parents meet organ scandal group
Sheffield Children's Hospital
Sheffield Children's Hospital retained 900 organs
Parents of children whose organs were retained without permission in Sheffield are meeting an organisation set up to help them.

The Retained Organs Commission is holding open meetings on Wednesday and Thursday in the city.

It will be an opportunity for parents to talk to members of the commission about any concerns they have regarding the scandal at Sheffield Children's Hospital.

The hospital was found to have retained 900 organs.

Organ stockpiles

One of the parents, Margaret Tory from Eckington, said: "When I think about Steven now I think about what they have done to him.

"They have cut him to pieces.

"They have taken everything away from us and we will never, ever get that back."

The commission was set up following the inquiry into stockpiles of organs discovered at the Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool.

Since then discoveries have been made throughout the country that doctors secretly took organs from dead children.

The meetings are being held in the Novotel, Sheffield.
