Woman's death went unnoticed
An inquest has heard how a woman lay dead in the hallway of her home in Wrexham for up to two days while her partner continued his daily routine.
The hearing in Flint was told Kate Phillips collapsed in her house, at Llys Dafydd Lord, after celebrating her birthday last August. Her partner, Geoffrey Edge, who she met at an alcohol rehabilitation centre, thought she was sleeping her condition off, however, she was later found to be dead. Blocked airways North East Wales Coroner John Hughes recorded a verdict of accidental death at the inquest on Tuesday. The alarm was raised by 47-year-old Mr Edge two days after Miss Phillips had fallen and he could not wake her. The inquest was told that Miss Phillips had drunk so much she had fallen with her face down and had been unable to move. The coroner was told how the 52-year-old alcoholic's airways had gradually become blocked and she died. Geoffrey Edge has since died and an inquest into his death has not yet been held. The couple, were said to be living in "indescribable squalor". John Hughes said that if the victim's airway had been secured she would probably have survived.
