Body in cupboard is missing Rachel
Police search a house in Hull
The body was found very close to Rachel's home
Police have confirmed that the body of a woman found in a cupboard in a house is that of missing Hull woman Rachel Moran.

Her boyfriend Mark Shepherd, 20, identified the body from jewellery found on it by officers.

A spokeswoman for Humberside Police said: "Police are now as certain as they can be that the body is that of Rachel Moran.

"The identification of the body was made by jewellery."

Rachel Moran
The 21-year-old was a dancer

Miss Moran had suffered "a violent and sustained attack", according to Home Office pathologist Professor Chris Milroy.

Two men, aged 22 and 23, remain in custody in Hull on suspicion of murder.

Police are obtaining an extension from magistrates to continue questioning the pair for a further 36 hours.

Miss Moran, 21, was last seen in the early hours of New Year's Day when she left her parents' home to walk the short distance back to her flat.

The body was found on Tuesday at a property at Nashcourt on the Orchard Park estate in Hull.

Nashcourt is just a short distance from Miss Moran's home in Saxcourt which she shared with Mr Shepherd.

Rachel's parents have been informed of her death.

The discovery was made hours after an extra 80 officers were drafted in to search homes close to where the 22-year-old lived.

Humberside Police followed advice from West Yorkshire Police, who carried out more than 1,000 house searches when trying to find murdered Leeds teenager Leanne Tiernan.

Officers were organised into groups of three on Tuesday morning to begin the search of the estate.

Earlier this month, police found Miss Moran's mobile phone, passport and her left training shoe in an open drain.
