Police officers hurt in crash
Bolton town centre
Striking firefighters in Bolton helped release victims
Four people, including two police officers, were injured when a police vehicle was in collision with a car in Greater Manchester.

The crash, in Bolton on Tuesday night, left one of the police officers and the driver of the car trapped.

Police confirmed the officers were responding to an emergency call when the accident happened just after 1945 GMT.

Striking firefighters at nearby Bolton Centre Fire Station left their picket line to help release the 21-year-old police officer and the car driver, also 21.

Hospital treatment

The police vehicle was in collision with the Peugeot 106 on Deane Road, at the junction of Mayor Street and College Way.

The driver of the police vehicle, a 43 year old officer from Bolton, received bruising to his head and an injury to his neck.

His passenger and the Peugeot driver suffered neck injuries.

The crash victims were taken to Royal Bolton Hospital for treatment and later discharged.
