Shots fired at police station

The shooting happened just after midnight
Police officers are investigating after gunshots were fired at a police station in Nottingham.

Windows and exterior lights were damaged at St Ann's police station on Ransom Road in the incident.

It is believed a shotgun was used in the shooting, which happened just after midnight on Wednesday.

The police station is staffed 24 hours a day, but nobody was hurt.

An investigation is expected to concentrate on CCTV footage from cameras overlooking the front of the police station.

A teenager died after a shooting incident in the area a year ago.

Brendon Lawrence, 16, was killed on 19 February 2002 as he stepped out of a car close to his home in St Ann's.

A vigil is being organised by his mother on Saturday to protest against gun crime in the city.
