Armed police raid homes
Police raid
Police said more arrests are likely following the raids
Armed police have arrested six people in raids in Liverpool following a number of attacks involving firearms and petrol bombs in the city.

The operation is aimed at targetting people involved in gangs.

The raids, in the early hours of Wednesday, took place after attacks in the Maryport Close area of Anfield.

Five men were arrested in connection with attacks on property, while a sixth is being held in connection with a petrol bomb attack.

A police spokesman said searches and forensic investigations were continuing following the operation and further arrests are possible.

High visibility patrols have been deployed in the area to reassure the local community.

The force has also warned that the use of firearms and petrol bombs will not be tolerated.
