Schoolgirl mugged for dinner money
Police cars in Bristol
Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward
A nine-year-old schoolgirl was mugged and her dinner money taken as she walked to school along a Bristol street.

Police in the city are hunting the man who robbed the girl in Richeson Walk, Henbury, on 16 January.

The girl, who has not been named by police, was on her way to school at around 0845 GMT when she was approached by the man.

He grabbed her right arm, causing considerable pain, before searching her pockets.

He took the girl's dinner money - a total of £1.20 - and ran off towards Satchfield Crescent after the girl kicked him in the right leg.

The attacker is described as white, aged about 20, of average build with short dark cropped hair. He was wearing a black jumper, blue jeans and training shoes.

Police have asked anyone who may have seen the incident to contact them.
