Appeal over missing mental health patient
Martin Elmer
Police are trying to find Martin Elmer
Police are warning the public to stay away from a mentally ill man, who has escaped from a secure unit in Norwich.

Martin Elmer, 32, went missing from the Norvic Clinic last Thursday.

He had been ordered to stay at the clinic after he attacked a former girlfriend and assaulted a police officer in 1998.

Mr Elmer is described as around six feet tall, with dyed red hair, a goatee beard, and blue eyes.

Norfolk Police said Mr Elmer was last seen wearing a denim jacket and jeans, a black hooded top, and several earrings in each ear.

Dr Hadrian Ball, medical director of the Norfolk Mental Health Care Trust, which runs the Norvic Clinic, said: "He (Mr Elmer) is not considered to be a risk to the public.

"The man needs medical supervision and we are concerned about his well-being."
