Man jailed over death crash
One of the cars involved in the fatal crash
Dickinson's daughter was paralysed in the crash
A man has been jailed for six years after a road accident that left one of his children paralysed for life and killed a passenger in another car.

Roy Dickinson, 44, from Wolverhampton, was jailed on Tuesday after admitting death by dangerous driving.

Simon McCartney, 69, the man killed in the crash, was a passenger in a car that Dickinson crashed into on the A449 near Wombourne in July last year.

Stafford Crown Court heard how Dickinson's daughter Frances, eight at the time of the crash, will be paralysed from the waist down for life.

Mr McCartney was a professional gambler

Also injured in the accident were Dickinson's 36-year-old wife Jaqui, his stepson and his other daughter.

The court was told how Dickinson became overcome with anger following an incident with another motorist as he drove along the A449 from Woverhampton towards Stourbridge.

Dickinson ignored repeated pleas from his wife for him to slow down before losing control of his car and crashing into the vehicle in which Mr McCartney, a professional gambler, was a passenger.

The judge also banned Dickinson from driving for 10 years.
