Dentist 'fondled patient'

Miss A claims the dentist groped her while she felt dizzy
A woman was fondled by a dentist after an anaesthetic injection, a disciplinary tribunal has been told.

Miss A, as she was called during the hearing, told the General Dental Council (GDC) said the incident happened after she became dizzy from the anaesthetic.

She said she was about to have two fillings at the Showman and Associates dental practice in Greater Manchester in 1999, but a first injection failed to numb her mouth.

It was after her dentist, Mehran Ezatpour, administered a second injection that her problems began at the surgery in Oldham Road, Failsworth.

He began to massage my shoulders and then my chest area

Patient Miss A
Miss A told the GDC's professional conduct committee she had been a patient of the surgery for 10 years, but the appointment on 17 March, 1999, was only her second with Mr Ezatpour.

After being granted anonymity by the committee, she said: "When he gave me [the second] injection, my head went really funny and I thought that had set me off with a panic attack."

She said Mr Ezatpour told her she was very tense before starting to massage her.

"He... began to massage my shoulders and then my chest area," she said.

She told the committee that following her ordeal she has not visited Mr Ezatpour since.

Mr Ezatpour denies serious professional misconduct. The hearing continues.
