Beat officers tackle crime hotspots
A project to put more police officers back on the beat and help reduce crime has begun in Sheffield.
Sergeant Richard Burgess said South Yorkshire Police have identified crime hotspots where the extra officers will make most impact. "Our resources are being targeted in areas we have identified through intelligence," he said. "I think this will have a good impact in the fight against crime." Donation made to Winter Garden Staff from John Lewis in Sheffield have donated £1,000 towards the upkeep of the city's Winter Garden. Barbara Oxley of John Lewis said: "We wanted to make a donation to something that benefited everyone in Sheffield, and the Winter Garden fitted the bill.¿ Leader of the Council Jan Wilson added: ¿The Winter Garden is something we can all be proud of. "This donation will help to maintain and improve this fantastic facility.¿
Snowdrop Festival celebrates spring The annual Snowdrop Festival has been held in Barnby Dunn, near Doncaster. A guided walk on Sunday was set up by Doncaster's Countryside Service to spot the spring flowers. On completion of the walk a special service was held at St Mary's Church in Kirk Bramwith. |
